Can Monstera Survive in Winter?
Yes. of cause as long as you give enough care to your Monstera Plant. It continues to survive your Monstera Plant if you could look after the plant like your baby.
How to Care for Monstera in Winter?
Let’s talk about the factors you should focus especially in the winter month.
01- Proper Lighting
Your Monstera Deliciosa plants like to have indirect sunlight every single day. But this dark winter we cannot provide that much sun.
So what we can do is bring my plant next to the window where they can receive maximum sunlight in the winter. But you have to remember that the light is changing throughout the year.
It is very smart to keep your plan after the sun. In the summer we don’t want to place our plant in a southern-facing window. Because that spot is too much sun so that they can burn. But in the winter that might be the best spot for your plant.
02- Clean Your Plant With a Cotton Pad
To receive maximum sunlight it’s best to clean your plant with a cotton pad and spray them and wipe all the dust off. Then they can take all the energy from the sun.
Your plant will be thankful to you.
03- Proper Humidity for the Monstera Plant in Winter Season
They love high humidity. Because most of our tropical plants is originally come from a very wet and moist environment.
Swiss Cheese Plants love moisture above 40. But, we can not provide that much high humidity inside our house.
Even though you can not provide very high humidity, you have to make sure that they were going to like lower than twenty percent (20%).
If it is lower than twenty percent, your plant might suffer from dryness.
There are many different ways you can track the humidity inside your house which as buying a humidity measurement machine.
You can just simply hang anywhere inside your house and they will show you how much humidity and how much the temperature inside your house.
if you want to invest a little bit more money in this humidity measurement machine is called a smart humidity sensor.
This machine can censor the humidity inside your house. and they can also give you an alarm.
✔ Tips to increase Humidity
There are many different ways of increasing humidity inside.
i) You can fill the water into a vest and keep it near the plant, so that can the water can evaporate and your plant can get this moist from there.
ii)- You can bring all of your plants and keep them in one spot so that they can transfer the humidity to each other. You can spray water on your leaf and go around and spray on your leaf at least twice a week.
iii)- You can hang your wet cloth inside the living room area where mostly you keep your plants. So that wet clothes evaporate the moisture. And your plant will receive it. The next day in the morning you are ready to use your clothes.
04- Proper Indoor Temperature in Winter Season
The temperature inside your house should not be under 18 degrees Celsius. you might want to check that indoor temperature once in a while. I like to check it with my Google home.
05- Watering Monstera Deliciosa
How often should you water my Monstera in winter?
Generally, watering once a week in the summer and once in two weeks in the winter is completely okay.
This is the general rule. But for me, instead of following this general rule, I would like to check my plan to make sure they are really dry or not.
Feel it and look at the plant. if they look drooping or sad or dehydrated, then give them water but you get to make sure that the soil is completely dry before you water them again. Because in the winter they don’t really need water.
If you water one time they last at least two weeks.
06- Fertilizing Monstera
I don’t give any fertilizer. Even in the summer, I don’t give them that much
Because, there’s no sun, they’re not growing. So they don’t need any energy or any nutrition
So just let them sleep. Take a rest a little bit.
But this is my personal opinion. If you wish, you can definitely try it. but not a lot.

The winter month is the happiest time for the pests and insert. They like to explore the soil. And they like to destroy your plant. So Controlling the pests & Insects is more important in this winter season.
What I do is, I use Neem oil I use one teaspoon of Neem oil & half a teaspoon of dishwashing soap with one liter of water warm water and mix them very well and spray around Plant, the roots, and the soil.
Neem oil is very popular. You can definitely try it. I am kind of happy with it I just got it recently.
